Five year old Genki Horiguchi and his single father Hideki lead a carefree life moving from place to place. One day, Hideki decides to come out of retirement and returns to professional boxing. His winning streak in the featherweight division is tragically cut short when he passes away suddenly while facing the genius boxer Seki Kenji. Genki was then taken in by his maternal grandparents and lived a comfortable life in the countryside. As the years passed, Genki decides to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a professional boxer to defeat Seki.
